Andreea-Alexandra Scriosteanu

Andreea (she/her) is an enthusiastic youth advocate from Romania, fighting for youth rights ever since her school years. She is a Vice-President of the European Youth Forum, where she first got involved representing the Romanian Youth Council (CTR), and has been particularly active in advocacy for youth rights, European integration, and sustainability, both at European and international levels. Andreea holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and European Studies from the University of Bucharest and is pursuing an Advanced LLM in European and International Human Rights Law at Leiden University.

Why did you want to be involved in the YAL project as YAB?

I am a strong believer in young people’s power. Having been a youth activist for half my life, I want to ensure young people’s role in driving social and political change are seen, valued and heard. For this to happen, we need proper support for our advocacy projects. I am motivated to support young people in making their voices heard, both in Africa and Europe, through a project that is provided by youth for youth.

How do you see the future of the AU-EU Labs?

Young people are stronger together. Projects such as the YAL have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting the youth-led movement and young people to work towards solving critical issues not only within their communities, but also to have an impact on the global stage. From raising awareness of underrepresented groups and minorities, to providing critical aid or creating an impactful advocacy campaign, the sky is the limit! My hope is that with this project we can support sustainable collaborations between African and European youth organisations, that can pass the test of time.
