Sarra Hannachi

Sarra Hannachi is a dedicated data activist, research enthusiast, and human rights advocate from Tunisia. She specialises in evidence-based research and technology policy, with a focus on addressing the ethical challenges of emerging technologies in migration, border security, and conflict contexts. Sarra’s expertise extends across the MENA region and Africa, where she leverages her experience in research, conflict analysis, and policy to drive impactful social change.

As a Mozilla Foundation Tech & Society Fellow and a member of the Coalition for Independent Technology Research, Sarra collaborates with nonprofit, nongovernmental, and international organisations to promote the ethical use of AI and responsible technology policymaking. She has worked extensively on consultancies, strategic policy analysis, and developing recommendations for the ethical and human-centric use of AI in security settings.

Sarra is also a committed youth representative, serving as a Youth Advisory Board member with the AU-EU Youth Voices Lab initiative, where she advocates for youth empowerment and representation in tech policy. Her research and advocacy contribute to advancing peace, security, and social justice, ensuring that technology serves as a force for good in society.

With a strong presence in the digital policy community, Sarra brings a unique blend of technical knowledge, advocacy experience, and commitment to social impact to the Youth Advisory Board, supporting the mission of the AU-EU Youth Voices Lab – Power of the Collective.
